Inside Tip on Wyland
I am a lover of Wyland artwork. It is really the only art I totally can't restist, and any time I walk past a Wyland gallery, I am drwan in and easily spend hours looking at everything. I recently visited one of the two Wyland gallery stores in Key west, and as I was looking at one of his newest scultures, "Wave Riders", I began talking to the manager of the store. I currently own another piece of art by Wyland, and we were discussing it's value. She told me that while it has not gained much value since I bought it, very soon it, as wel as all of Wyland's art, will go way up. She explained that Wyland will be painting his 100th hale wall (and his final one), for which he is so well known, for the Olympics in Beijing. His final whale wall painting will be on the side of the Great Wall of China, and after that he will no longer paint his signature walls. Although he will continue to create his other art, such as paintings and sculptures, the value of his art will increase greatly because he will be stopping his trademark style of art, and there is speculation that he will reduce his production as he moves towards retirement. Anyways, the point of the story, while not official, is that if you own any of wyland's artwork, you should re-appraise it after the 2008 Olympics as it will almost certainly go up considerably in value. Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up. |
