Landscape Lighting

The two main choices for people to add accent lighting to a yard or landscaping are low voltage lighting or solar lighting.

While low voltage lighting can provide a wider range of lighting options, and in general, more light, they are a hassle to install and maintain. Not only do you have to trench the low voltage wire to all of your lights, but once they are in place, you cannot easily move them. When you consider the cost of the wire and the labor to install it, the lower cost of the low voltage light loses it's appeal.

The best alternative to hard wired lighting is solar lighting. While the units are slightly more expensive, and produce less light, solar lights are perfect for accent lighting outdoors. Not only is there zero work involved (you just stick them in the ground), but you can move them again and again without any hassel of wiring. Also, most solar lights use an LED, which lasts effectively forever. And the best part? You don't pay for any electricity, so once you have bought the light, the rest is free. Solar lighting can provide a cheap and easy way to liven up any yard or pathway at night.
