So you're looking for the perfect piece of diamond jewelry? Sure you can go to a big jewelry store and buy one of their stock pieces, but then it is just like others, and very expensive. So what alternative do you have? Buy a loose diamond and have it set.
Buying a loose diamond has several benefits. It allows you to choose from a much wider selection. You can pick a higher quality diamond, and usually bigger, for the same price as a preset stone. And you can pick the exact diamond you want, without having to limit your selection by settings.
Let's say you want the perfect ring for your fiance. If you go to a store, you can only select diamonds that are set in rings, and then you are further limited by the type of setting you want, i.e. yellow gold solitaire. However, if you buy a loose diamond, you can pick exactly what you want, get the perfect quality and size to fit your budget, and then set it any way you want to. This creates a totally unique ring or piece of jewelery that was custom made by you, not some off the shelf ring from a store.
Another way to utilize loose diamonds is to buy bulk lots. Many brokers will offer a "bag" of loose stones in all types of sizes, cuts, quality, etc. These are usually at a far lower price than if you bought each individually, the wholesale principle. Then you can select the best diamonds for yourself, and sell the others individually for a pretty healthy profit.
Once you have a loose diamond, you can take it to any jeweler and have them set it. This way you can take the perfect diamond, and set it any way you like, in a standard or custom setting. |
